Coupon codes, promo codes, and referral codes on Physics Wallah
Students often ask whether a "coupon code" and a "promo code" are the same thing on pw.live. The short answer is: they usually refer to the same input field on the checkout screen, but the type of discount they provide can differ.
Coupon codes
A coupon code is a short alphanumeric string (for example, 9300LALA) that you enter at checkout to receive a discount. Coupon codes are typically released by PW to students via social media, YouTube channels, or partner announcements. They often provide a tiered flat discount based on the course price.
Promo codes
The term "promo code" is used interchangeably with "coupon code" by most students and many coupon listing sites. On pw.live, both types are entered in the same field at checkout. If you have a promo code, enter it exactly as you would a coupon code.
Referral codes
A referral code is shared by an existing PW student or educator. When a new student uses a referral code, the referring student may receive a benefit (such as wallet credits), and the new student may receive a discount. Referral codes are entered in the same coupon field on pw.live.
Referral codes are different from standard coupon codes in one important way: they are associated with an individual student's account, not a general public code. Referral codes found on third-party coupon sites are typically no longer valid — each referral code is unique and can expire or become inactive when the referrer is no longer active.
Scholarship discounts
PW also offers scholarship tests that provide verified students with discount codes after clearing a test. These are different from public coupon codes and are usually account-specific. They are not listed on this site.
